Indulge in a decadent gluten-free caramel apple cake made easy with Betty Crocker® Gluten Free cake mix.
Ingredients:
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 2 tablespoons whipping cream
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 large tart cooking apple, peeled, thinly sliced
  • 1 box (15 oz) Betty Crocker™ Gluten Free Yellow Cake Mix
  • 1/4 teaspoon apple pie spice
  • 2/3 cup water
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 3 eggs
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F. In a medium microwave-safe bowl, heat the butter, whipping cream, and brown sugar uncovered on High for about 1 minute until the butter is melted. Pour the mixture into an ungreased 9-inch or 8-inch square pan, then sprinkle with pecans and top with apple slices.
  • In a large bowl, use an electric mixer on low speed to combine cake mix, apple pie spice, water, butter, and eggs until moistened. Then, increase speed to medium and beat for 2 minutes, remembering to scrape the bowl occasionally. Spread the batter over the apple mixture.
  • Bake in a 9-inch pan for 50 to 55 minutes or in an 8-inch pan for 60 to 65 minutes, until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Allow it to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then gently loosen the sides of the cake. Invert a heatproof serving platter over the pan, carefully flip it over, and let the pan sit on the cake for 1 minute to allow the caramel to drizzle. Remove the pan.
