Oven-baked chicken wings glazed in sweet and spicy Gochujang sauce.
Ingredients:
  • 2 tablespoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 pounds chicken wings, separated at the joint
  • 3 tablespoons gochujang (Korean hot and sweet pepper paste), or to taste
  • 2 tablespoons reduced-sodium soy sauce
  • 1.5 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 2 tablespoons sliced green onions
  • 2 teaspoons sesame seeds
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) while lining a large baking sheet with foil. Place a wire rack lightly sprayed with non-stick cooking spray on top.
  • Combine baking powder, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder in a small bowl. Transfer the mixture into a large resealable plastic bag.
  • Gently dry the wings with a paper towel, then add some to a bag and shake until coated. Shake off any excess coating and set aside. Repeat with the remaining wings. Arrange the wings on a rack without overcrowding.
  • Transfer the baking sheet to the oven and bake the wings for 20 minutes. Then, flip the wings and continue baking until they are browned and crispy, which should take about 15 more minutes. Use an instant-read thermometer to ensure the internal temperature reaches at least 165 degrees F (74 degrees C). For extra crispiness, place the wings under the broiler for a few minutes. Keep an eye on them to prevent burning while ensuring they are fully cooked yet still moist.
  • As the wings bake, combine gochujang, soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and ginger powder in a large bowl. Once the chicken wings are cooked, toss them in the flavorful mixture until well coated.
  • Transfer to a serving platter and sprinkle with green onions and sesame seeds for a beautiful presentation.
