Satisfy your cravings with these quick and easy homemade biscuits made with Gold Medal™ flour. Ready in under 30 minutes and versatile for any meal - breakfast, brunch, lunch or snack!
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 cup shortening or butter
  • 3/4 cup milk
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 450°F. Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl until mixed. Use a pastry blender or fork to cut in the shortening until the mixture resembles fine crumbs. Stir in the milk until a soft dough forms and pulls away from the sides of the bowl (the dough will be soft and slightly sticky).
  • Sprinkle flour over a clean surface. Transfer the dough to the floured surface and coat it with a gentle roll. To knead, fold the dough towards you and push away with the heels of your hands in a rocking motion. Repeat this process 10 times, rotating the dough a quarter turn each time until it feels smooth and springy.
  • Flatten dough on a floured surface using hands or a rolling pin until it's 1/2 inch thick.
  • Prepare the round cutter by lightly coating it with flour to ensure a clean cut through the dough without sticking. Cut the biscuits straight down without twisting, placing them close together on an ungreased cookie sheet about 1 inch apart for a crusty side or with sides touching for a softer side.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes until beautifully golden brown. Remove from the cookie sheet right away and enjoy while still warm.
