Ingredients:
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 0.5 cup vegetable shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 0.66666668653488 cup milk
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to a toasty 450°F (230°C).
  • Sift flour, sugar, baking powder, cream of tartar, and salt into a bowl. Cut vegetable shortening into the flour mixture using a pastry cutter until it resembles coarse crumbs. In a separate bowl, whisk egg and milk together and gradually add the milk mixture to the flour mixture, stirring continuously until the dough is moistened and well combined. Spoon the dough onto an ungreased baking sheet.
  • Bake in the oven until biscuits are puffed and golden brown, about 10-12 minutes.
