Steam green beans and coat in a sweet and tangy bacon vinaigrette - a nostalgic dish inspired by Grandma's recipe!
Ingredients:
  • 4 slices bacon
  • 2 pounds fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 0.5 cup finely chopped onion
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon dry mustard
Instructions:
  • Cook the bacon in a large skillet over medium-high heat, turning occasionally, until crispy, for about 10 minutes.
  • Set up a steamer on a saucepan with water just below the steamer. Once water is boiling, steam green beans for 3 to 5 minutes until tender-crisp. Drain beans after steaming.
  • Place crispy bacon on paper towels to drain, keeping the flavorful grease in the skillet. Cook onion in the bacon grease until tender, for about 5 minutes. Add brown sugar, vinegar, salt, mustard, and pepper, stirring thoroughly to combine. Deglaze the skillet, ensuring to scrape up any browned bits. Simmer until the mixture bubbles, for 3 to 5 minutes.
  • Combine the green beans with the flavorful sauce in the skillet, ensuring they are evenly coated. Sprinkle the chopped bacon over the beans and mix well. Serve while hot and enjoy!
