Chipotle chile basting sauce with tangy apricot preserves.
Ingredients:
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped onion
  • 2 teaspoons water
  • 1/4 cup barbecue sauce
  • 2 tablespoons apricot preserves
  • 1 teaspoon chopped chipotle chile in adobo sauce (from 7-oz can)
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 2 turkey drumsticks (8 oz each)
Instructions:
  • Preheat grill. Cook onion and water in a saucepan for 3 to 5 minutes until tender. Add barbecue sauce, preserves, chile, and salt. Cook for 1 to 2 minutes until heated through. Set aside 3 tablespoons of the sauce.
  • Grill drumsticks over medium-low heat for 25 to 30 minutes, turning often and basting with sauce for the last 5 minutes, until the turkey juices run clear when the thickest part is cut next to the bone (180°F).
  • Drizzle drumsticks with the remaining 3 tablespoons of the flavorful sauce before presenting them.
