French pastry with a sweet and nutty twist from Gruyère cheese.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine
  • 1 cup Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 4 eggs, slightly beaten
  • 1 cup shredded Gruyère cheese (4 ounces)
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 400°F and generously grease 2 cookie sheets.
  • In a 2-quart saucepan, bring milk and butter to a rolling boil. Stir in flour vigorously over low heat for about 1 minute until a ball forms; remove from heat. Quickly beat in eggs until smooth, then gently fold in 2/3 cup of cheese.
  • Shape the dough into two 4-inch rings on a cookie sheet using a tablespoon, then smooth with a spatula. Sprinkle the remaining 1/3 cup of cheese on top and bake for 50 to 60 minutes until puffed and golden.
