Elevate your sandwich game with this delicious French classic.
Ingredients:
  • 2 thick slices wholemeal bread
  • 5.90 gm dijon mustard
  • 25g shaved smoked leg ham
  • 30g thinly sliced gruyere cheese
  • 20.00 gm polyunsaturated margarine
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tsp chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley leaves
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 180°C/160°C fan-forced and prepare a baking tray by lining it with baking paper.
  • Lay a slice of bread on a board and generously spread it with tangy mustard. Then, layer on savory ham and melty cheese before crowning it all with the second slice of bread.
  • In a small non-stick frying pan over medium heat, melt half of the margarine. Cook the sandwich for 2 minutes on each side until golden. Transfer to a prepared tray and bake for 5 minutes or until the cheese has melted.
  • Heat the remaining margarine in a pan over medium-high heat until melted. Cook the egg for 2 to 3 minutes, just until the white is set and the yolk is still soft.
  • Finish the sandwich by adding a beautifully cooked egg on top and garnish with a sprinkle of fresh parsley before serving.
