Halibut grilled with Asian-style sesame soy sauce, shallots, and rice wine.
Ingredients:
  • 1 teaspoon vegetable oil
  • 1 shallots, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon black bean sauce
  • 0.5 cup mirin (Japanese sweet wine)
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 6 (4 ounce) fillets halibut, skin removed
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
Instructions:
  • In a non-stick saucepan over medium heat, gently cook shallots and garlic in oil until fragrant. Add black bean sauce, rice wine, and soy sauce, bring to a boil, and simmer until reduced by half. Remove from heat, stir in vinegar, and set aside.
  • Dry the fish using a paper towel. Coat it with sesame oil and sprinkle generously with pepper. Preheat an outdoor grill to high heat and lightly oil the grill grate.
  • Grill fish for 5 minutes on each side, or until just cooked through. Top with fresh cilantro and drizzle with sauce before serving.
