Indulge in festive vanilla cake pops for a spooktacular Halloween treat!
Ingredients:
  • 1 box Betty Crocker™ Super Moist™ Vanilla Cake Mix
  • Water, vegetable oil and eggs called for on cake mix box
  • 3/4 cup from 1 tub (16 oz) Betty Crocker™ Rich & Creamy Vanilla Frosting
  • 1/3 cup orange candy sprinkles
  • Black food decorating pen
  • 56 sliced almonds (1/8 cup)
  • 14 strands rice stick noodles
  • 2 bags (10 oz each) black candy melts or coating wafers
  • 1/2 teaspoon black candy coating
  • 2 tablespoons canola oil
  • 28 paper lollipop sticks
  • 1 large block white plastic foam
  • 56 pieces candy corn (2/3 cup)
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 350°F. Prepare and bake the cake mix according to the instructions on the box for a 13x9-inch pan, using water, oil, and eggs. Allow the cake to cool completely in the pan on a cooling rack for about 1 hour.
  • Place a sheet of waxed paper on a cookie sheet. Crumble the cake in a large bowl. Mix in frosting and candy sprinkles until well combined. Shape the mixture into 1 1/2-inch balls and place them on the prepared cookie sheet. Freeze until firm, then store in the refrigerator.
  • Enhance almonds with a black decorating pen to create eye pupils. Allow the design to set. Break rice stick noodles into 1 1/2-inch pieces and keep aside.
  • In a medium microwavable bowl, melt candy melts in the microwave in 1-minute intervals on Medium (50%) power until smooth, stirring in between. Mix in 1/2 teaspoon of candy coating and then add oil. Take a few cake balls out of the refrigerator at a time. Dip one end of a lollipop stick into the melted candy and insert it halfway into a cake ball. Coat the cake ball with melted candy, making sure to remove any excess. If the candy is too thick, heat it up again in the microwave or add oil. Place the stick into a foam block to set.
  • Top each of the cake pops with 2 candy corn pieces for ears, almonds for eyes, and insert rice stick noodles for whiskers. Allow them to set before moving on to the rest of the cake balls.
