Kid-friendly sandwich with a delicious twist, a cross between grilled cheese and Monte Cristo, perfect for lunch or snacks.
Ingredients:
  • 4 slices cooked ham
  • 4 slices sourdough bread
  • 2 tablespoons cream cheese, softened
  • 0.25 cup drained crushed pineapple
  • 2 slices provolone or Swiss cheese
  • 1 teaspoon butter
Instructions:
  • Spread cream cheese generously on two slices of bread. Add 2 slices of ham, 2 tablespoons of pineapple, and 1 slice of cheese onto each slice. Cover with another slice of bread, then trim off the crusts.
  • Combine eggs, milk, and sugar in a shallow bowl and dip both sides of the sandwiches in the mixture.
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, melt butter with oil. Add sandwiches and cook until golden brown and cheese is melted, about 5 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels and let cool for 3 minutes before serving.
