Slightly sweet ham loaf with tangy glaze, served with creamy horseradish sauce. Perfect for holidays, dinners, or sandwiches.
Ingredients:
  • 2.5 pounds ground ham
  • 0.5 pound ground pork
  • 0.5 onion, chopped
  • 2 cups rolled oats
  • 2.5 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 teaspoon ground mustard
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1.5 cups evaporated milk
  • 1.5 cups brown sugar
  • 0.25 cup cider vinegar
  • 0.75 cup mayonnaise
  • 0.25 cup sour cream
  • 5 tablespoons prepared horseradish
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • salt and black pepper to taste
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, mix together ground ham, ground pork, onion, oats, eggs, parsley, ground mustard, pepper, and evaporated milk until well combined. Shape the mixture into two loaves and place them in 9x13 inch baking pans.
  • Place loaves in a preheated oven and bake for 30 minutes. Combine brown sugar and vinegar in a saucepan, bring to a boil for 1 minute. Take loaves out of the oven, pour the brown sugar mixture over them. Put the loaves back in the oven and baste with pan juices until golden and cooked through, around 30 to 45 minutes.
  • In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise, sour cream, horseradish, and lemon juice. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Drizzle the sauce over sliced ham loaf before serving.
