Savory ground ham and beef baked to perfection with a sweet brown sugar glaze. A beloved recipe from my catering and restaurant days. Ingredients: ground ham, ground beef, eggs, bread, brown sugar, mustard.
Ingredients:
  • 10 (1 ounce) slices white bread, torn into pieces
  • 2.5 cups milk
  • 2 pounds ground smoked ham
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 6 eggs, beaten
  • 1 teaspoon dry mustard
  • 0.33333334326744 cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons flour
  • 2 teaspoons prepared mustard
  • 2 tablespoons distilled white vinegar
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) for the perfect cooking temperature.
  • In a large bowl, combine bread and milk to soften. Mash thoroughly and add in ham, beef, eggs, salt, dry mustard, and 1/3 cup of brown sugar. Mix well and transfer the mixture to a 9x13 glass baking dish. In a separate bowl, mix 1 cup of brown sugar, flour, and prepared mustard. Add vinegar gradually until a spreadable paste forms. Spread the topping over the meat mixture in the baking dish.
  • Place in a preheated oven for one hour until the ground beef is cooked through and the topping is beautifully browned.
