Classic British ginger nut biscuits are crispy spiced cookies sweetened with golden syrup.
Ingredients:
  • 2 tablespoons golden syrup
  • 8 ounces self-rising flour
  • 4 ounces white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 4 ounces margarine
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 180 degrees F (82 degrees C) and prepare 2 baking sheets by greasing them or lining them with parchment paper.
  • Gently heat golden syrup in a saucepan for approximately 2 minutes until warm. Let it cool slightly in the pan.
  • In a bowl, blend flour, sugar, and ginger. Add margarine and rub until combined. Mix in baking soda. Stir in flour mixture into the golden syrup in the saucepan until dough is well mixed.
  • Shape walnut-sized pieces of dough into perfect, round balls. Place the biscuits on baking sheets with even spaces in between.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10-15 minutes until biscuits have a slightly cracked surface. Then, cool on a wire rack.
