Tropical baked chicken with pineapple, brown sugar - a delicious taste of Hawaii at home!
Ingredients:
  • 0.25 cup butter
  • 0.33333334326744 cup ketchup
  • 0.25 cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 0.25 cup vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 0.5 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 (9 ounce) can crushed pineapple
  • 3 pounds assorted chicken pieces such as breasts, thighs, wings, and drumsticks
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C) to ensure the perfect cooking temperature.
  • In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Add ketchup and brown sugar; stir until sugar dissolves. In a small bowl, whisk cornstarch into vinegar until smooth, then pour into the pan. Whisk in salt, soy sauce, and Worcestershire sauce; bring to a simmer, whisking constantly. Cook until thickened, about 2 minutes. Stir in pineapple and remove from heat.
  • Place the chicken pieces in a 9x13-inch baking dish and generously pour the flavorful pineapple sauce over them.
  • Cook in the preheated oven until the sauce is bubbling, the chicken is golden brown, and the juices run clear, typically for 45 minutes. Verify doneness by inserting an instant-read meat thermometer into the thickest part of a thigh - it should register a minimum of 165°F (74°C).
