Transforming classic bread pudding into a healthier option with whole wheat bread, reduced sugar, and a fruity twist. Ideal for any time of day!
Ingredients:
  • 6 slices day-old whole wheat bread
  • 1 large apple, peeled and chopped
  • 4 eggs, beaten
  • 2 cups low-fat milk
  • 0.5 cup white sugar
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Tear bread into small pieces and place in an 8-inch square baking dish. Add raisins and apple, then drizzle with melted butter.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla extract until thoroughly combined. Pour the mixture over the bread and gently press down with a fork to ensure the bread is fully coated and absorbs the delicious mixture.
  • Boil water in a kettle. Place the bread pudding baking dish inside a large roasting pan. Gently pour the boiling water around the pan.
  • Bake in a preheated oven until a knife inserted into the center of the pudding comes out almost clean, around 45 minutes.
