Healthier honey-sesame chicken, pan-fried for a quick Asian-inspired meal over rice or noodles.
Ingredients:
  • 0.5 cup water
  • 0.33333334326744 cup low-sodium chicken broth
  • 0.25 cup ketchup
  • 0.25 cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 0.25 cup honey
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons Sriracha sauce
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger root
  • 0.25 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes, or to taste
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 4 boneless chicken breast, cut into bite-size pieces
  • 3 tablespoons water
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
Instructions:
  • In a medium bowl, mix together water, chicken broth, ketchup, soy sauce, honey, garlic, rice vinegar, Sriracha, sesame oil, ginger root, and red pepper flakes to create your flavorful sauce.
  • In a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat, heat vegetable oil. Stir-fry chicken until opaque on all sides, about 2 to 3 minutes. Transfer chicken to a plate.
  • Lower the heat to medium and pour the sauce into the wok. Combine water and cornstarch in a small bowl, then stir into the sauce until it thickens, for about 3 to 5 minutes. Return the chicken to the wok, mix well, and heat through for approximately 2 minutes.
