Tender strips of beef heart, seared and simmered in a savory broth of onions, celery, and beef. Perfect over fluffy steamed rice.
Ingredients:
  • 2 pounds beef heart - rinsed and cut into thin strips
  • 0.25 cup all-purpose flour
  • 4 onions, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 1 stalk celery, diced
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 0.5 cup water
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce, or to taste
Instructions:
  • Coat the beef heart strips with flour and set aside the remaining flour. In a large heavy skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat, melt the butter. Lightly brown the beef in the butter. Add onion and sauté for 5 minutes, then add celery and the right amount of beef broth to cover the ingredients. Cover the pan and simmer over low heat for one hour.
  • Combine the reserved flour with water to create a paste, then mix it into the meat mixture. Season with salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Simmer until the sauce thickens, and serve hot over rice or noodles.
