Whole roasted turkey with a flavorful honey-butter glaze infused with herbs like parsley, thyme, sage, and basil.
Ingredients:
  • 1 (16 pound) whole turkey, neck and giblets removed
  • 0.25 cup extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon ground thyme
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 cup honey
  • 0.5 cup melted butter
  • 1 tablespoon minced fresh parsley
  • 2 teaspoons dried sage leaves
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
Instructions:
  • Turn on your oven to a toasty 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
  • First, thoroughly wash the turkey and then gently dry it using paper towels. Next, coat the turkey, both inside and out, with flavorful extra-virgin olive oil.
  • Combine 1 teaspoon of salt, thyme, and 1/2 teaspoon of pepper in a small bowl, then generously season the turkey with the mixture. Transfer the turkey onto a roasting rack in a pan.
  • Let the turkey roast in the preheated oven for 2 hours.
  • Combine honey, melted butter, parsley, sage, basil, 1 teaspoon salt, and 1 teaspoon pepper in a bowl to create a smooth glaze.
  • Coat the turkey with the glaze, then roast, basting often with the remaining glaze, until fully cooked and the juices run clear, for approximately 2 more hours. Use a thermometer to check that the temperature in the thickest part of the thigh reaches 165°F (74°C).
  • Take the turkey out of the oven, cover it with a double layer of aluminum foil, and let it rest in a cozy spot for 10 to 15 minutes before slicing.
