Juicy turkey burgers infused with fresh herbs, perfect for grilling or stovetop cooking.
Ingredients:
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 medium red onion, minced
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 pounds ground turkey meat (preferably dark meat, not breast meat)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup loosely packed chopped parsley
  • 1 tablespoon minced fresh rosemary
  • 1 tablespoon minced fresh sage
  • 2 teaspoons chopped fresh thyme
  • To serve:
  • Burger buns
  • Toppings like sliced onions, lettuce, sliced tomatoes, bacon , mayonnaise , mustard, relish, and/or ketchup
Instructions:
  • Cook the onions and garlic: Sauté the chopped onion in olive oil over medium heat for 3 minutes. Add the garlic and sauté for an additional 2 minutes until the garlic starts to brown. Remove from heat and transfer to a large bowl to cool.
  • Combine the ground turkey, salt, pepper, and herbs with the cooled onions in a bowl. Gently mix with your hands until well combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.
  • Shape the meat into patties by creating a slight indentation in the middle of each patty to ensure they cook evenly with a uniform shape.
  • For perfectly cooked burgers, heat a grill or cast iron frying pan over high heat. Grill or pan-fry the burgers for 5 to 6 minutes on each side until they reach 165°F internally. For grilling, pre-heat the grill for 10 minutes and oil the grates. When using a frying pan, add a touch of oil to prevent sticking. To avoid sticking in a cast iron pan, try sprinkling a bit of salt on the bottom before cooking; it works like magic!
  • To assemble the burgers, lightly toast the buns and top them with sliced onions, lettuce, tomatoes, bacon, mayo, mustard, relish, and/or ketchup according to your preference.
