Elevate rolls with sourdough batter. Add raisins or nuts for extra flavor.
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups Herman Sourdough Starter
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 0.5 cup margarine
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 3 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons raisins
  • 2 tablespoons chopped walnuts
Instructions:
  • Mix together Herman Sweet Sourdough Starter, flour, baking soda, salt, baking powder, and eggs in a large bowl until fully combined.
  • Knead dough in the bowl until smooth, for about 5 to 7 minutes.
  • Allow the dough to proof in a cozy spot until it's doubled in size. Gently deflate the dough. Roll it out onto a floured surface into a 10 x 20 inch rectangle. Mix melted margarine, sugar, and cinnamon in a bowl. Spread this flavorful mixture over the dough. Add walnuts or raisins for extra deliciousness, if preferred.
  • Roll the dough tightly from the long side into a log shape. Pinch the ends together to seal. Cut the log into 1-inch slices and arrange them in an ungreased 11x14 inch cake pan. Let the rolls rise until they double in size.
  • Place in a 325°F (165°C) preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
