Chef John's quick and easy beef jerky recipe - a flavorful, chewy homemade snack perfect for camping or gifting.
Ingredients:
  • 0.75 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 0.75 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon smoked paprika, or to taste
  • 1 tablespoon honey, or more to taste
  • 2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 2 pounds beef top round, thinly sliced
Instructions:
  • Combine Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, smoked paprika, honey, black pepper, red pepper flakes, garlic powder, and onion powder in a large bowl, and whisk until smooth. Add beef and toss until well coated. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 3 hours, or overnight for best results.
  • Preheat the oven to a low 175 degrees F (80 degrees C) and prepare a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil topped with a wire rack for easy cleanup and even cooking.
  • Pat dry the beef with paper towels and dispose of the marinade.
  • Lay out the beef slices evenly on the wire rack set on top of the baking sheet.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 3 to 4 hours until the texture is dry and leathery.
  • Trim jerky into delectable, bite-sized morsels using scissors.
  • Savor the delicious flavors!
