Homemade chocolate cupcakes inspired by Hostess, filled with creamy filling and topped with rich chocolate frosting - a decadent delight for chocolate aficionados.
Ingredients:
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 0.25 cup butter, softened
  • 0.25 cup shortening
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 cup chocolate frosting
  • 0.75 cup vanilla frosting
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F (180 degrees C) and prepare 36 muffin cups by lining them with paper cups.
  • In a large bowl, combine flour, white sugar, cocoa, baking soda, and salt. Add eggs, milk, oil, water, and vanilla extract. Use an electric mixer on low speed to blend until smooth for about 2 minutes. Fill muffin cups a little over halfway using a #20 or 3-tablespoon scoop.
  • Bake for 18 to 22 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the centers comes out clean. Then, transfer the cakes from the pans to wire racks to cool completely.
  • Prepare the filling by blending powdered sugar, butter, shortening, milk, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt in a large bowl until fluffy using an electric mixer on high speed for about 5 minutes. Load a pastry bag fitted with a large round tip with the filling. Pump the tip into the top of each cooled cupcake to fill, then smooth out the excess frosting for a flawless finish.
  • Top cupcakes with luxurious chocolate frosting. Load a clean pastry bag fitted with a small round tip with luscious vanilla frosting. Create beautiful frosting loops on top of cupcakes. Place cupcakes in an airtight container and store at room temperature for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
