Irresistible homemade classic: beef lasagne.
Ingredients:
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 36.40 gm olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 500g beef mince
  • 100g mushrooms, chopped
  • 400g can diced tomatoes
  • 69.38 gm tomato paste
  • 123.75 gm red wine
  • 375g packet fresh lasagne sheets
  • 125.00 ml tasty cheese, grated
  • 125.00 ml parmesan cheese, finely grated
  • 189.38 gm thickened cream
  • 1 egg
  • 60g butter
  • 40.00 ml plain flour
  • 515.00 gm milk
  • Salad, to serve
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to a cozy 180C and lightly grease a medium baking dish to prepare it for your delicious creation.
  • In a hot large frying pan, saute onion and garlic until tender. Brown mince for 4-5 minutes, breaking up lumps with a spoon. Stir in mushrooms and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes.
  • Combine the tomatoes, tomato paste, and wine in a blender. Pour the mixture into a pot and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens. Season with salt and pepper to your liking.
  • In a saucepan over high heat, melt butter. Stir in flour and cook for 1 minute. Remove from heat and whisk in milk until smooth. Return to heat and bring to a boil, stirring until thickened. Simmer for 3 minutes, then season to taste.
  • Layer the bottom of the dish with lasagne sheets, cutting them to fit as needed. Spread half of the mince followed by half of the white sauce. Sprinkle one quarter of the combined cheese over the sauce. Repeat the layers, ending with a layer of lasagne sheets.
  • Combine cream and egg in a bowl and season to taste. Pour the mixture over the lasagne sheet and sprinkle with the remaining cheese.
  • Bake until golden and tender for 30-35 minutes. Rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
