Crispy grilled ham and cheese sandwich with a golden batter coating.
Ingredients:
  • 8 slices sourdough bread
  • 2 tablespoons honey mustard
  • 0.5 pound sliced deli ham
  • 1.5 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 0.5 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 0.25 cup milk
  • 0.125 teaspoon freshly ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon butter
Instructions:
  • On half of the bread slices, spread a layer of mustard. Lay slices of ham on the other half. Mix mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses and sprinkle evenly over the ham. Close the sandwiches with the mustard side facing down.
  • Whisk together eggs, milk, and nutmeg in a shallow dish. Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Dip sandwiches in egg mixture, allowing excess to drip off. Place in the skillet and cook until golden brown and cheese is melted.
