Homemade sticky buns - prep dough night before for a delicious morning treat!
Ingredients:
  • 1 package or 2 1/4 teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup warm water (120°F to 130°F)
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted, still warm but not hot
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon grated orange peel
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 3 1/2 cups Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • 2/3 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
Instructions:
  • Grease a 13x9-inch (3-quart) glass baking dish and a large bowl with shortening or cooking spray.
  • Combine yeast with warm water in a large bowl until dissolved. Mix in all Dough ingredients except flour until well combined. Stir in 3 cups of flour until a soft dough forms.
  • Knead the dough for 10 to 12 minutes on a lightly floured surface, adding no more than 1/2 cup extra flour until it reaches the right consistency - slightly sticky and stretchy without breaking. Keep kneading if it breaks.
  • Transfer the dough to a generously greased large bowl and cover it with plastic wrap. Allow it to rise in a warm spot for 2 to 3 hours, or until it has doubled in size.
  • Gently deflate dough and transfer to a lightly floured work surface. Cover with plastic wrap and allow to rest for 20 minutes.
  • In a 1-quart saucepan, combine all Topping ingredients except pecans and heat over medium heat until the sugar dissolves. Pour the mixture into the baking dish and sprinkle with pecans.
  • Roll out the rested dough into a luxurious 18x12-inch rectangle using a rolling pin. Brush the surface with 1/4 cup of softened butter, leaving a 1-inch strip untouched along one long side. In a small bowl, combine 2/3 cup brown sugar with cinnamon, then generously sprinkle this mixture over the buttered dough.
  • Roll the dough tightly into a long roll starting from the topped long side. Cut the roll into 15 even slices. Arrange the slices in a 5x3 pattern over the Topping in a baking dish. Allow the rolls to rise in a warm place for 30 to 60 minutes, or until doubled in size.
  • Once the rolls have doubled in size, preheat the oven to 350°F. Bake the rolls for 25 to 30 minutes until they are a deep golden brown. Carefully invert the rolls onto a serving platter immediately, being cautious of the hot sticky topping. Serve the rolls warm.
