Delicious user-submitted recipe. Not taste-tested by our team.
Ingredients:
  • 700g premium beef mince
  • 1 medium onion, peeled and finely diced
  • 36.80 gm oil
  • 130.00 gm tomato sauce
  • 73.20 gm worcestershire sauce
  • 1.25 gm ground nutmeg
  • 3/4 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 vegetable stock cube
  • 250.00 gm water
  • 1-40.00 ml plain flour
  • 1 sheet ready-rolled shortcrust pastry, thawed
  • 1 sheet ready-rolled puff pastry, thawed
  • Canola oil, spray
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 180C (150-160 for fan forced). Thoroughly coat a pie dish with canola spray.
  • In a non-stick frying pan over medium heat, heat 2 tablespoons of oil. Add diced onion and sauté for 5 minutes until soft. Brown the minced meat with the onions, breaking it up as it cooks. Remove any excess liquid from the pan. Reduce heat to low, then stir in tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, nutmeg, and oregano until well combined.
  • Crumble the stock cube into the pie filling and stir until dissolved. Pour in the water or water with dissolved powder if using. Bring the mixture to a boil, then simmer for 5 minutes. Gradually sprinkle the flour, mixing well after each addition until reaching your desired consistency. Keep the filling slightly wet but not too runny. Cook over low heat for about 1 minute.
  • Grease pie dish and line with thawed shortcrust pastry. Fill with pie filling, then top with puff pastry sheet, tucking corners into shortcrust gaps. Press pastry sheets together around edges of dish, then trim for a neat finish.
  • Create a small slit in the pastry, then bake the pie on the middle shelf until golden and the pastry is fully cooked, about 30-40 minutes (depending on your oven).
