Crispy honey orange shrimp with golden cornstarch coating, drizzled with sweet honey sauce.
Ingredients:
  • 24 jumbo shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1.25 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 0.5 cup canola oil
  • 1 cup tupelo honey
  • 1 tablespoon grated orange zest
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 0.25 teaspoon cayenne pepper, or to taste
Instructions:
  • Cleanse the shrimp thoroughly, then immerse them in a refreshing bath of cold water and set them aside.
  • In a large plastic bowl with a tight-fitting lid, combine cornstarch, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Seal the lid and shake well to mix the ingredients. Add half of the shrimp to the bowl, cover, and shake until coated. Transfer the coated shrimp to a platter and repeat with the remaining shrimp.
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, heat canola oil until hot and shimmering (but not smoking). Dredge shrimp in cornstarch, fry in batches until crispy and golden brown outside and opaque inside, about 2-3 minutes each side. Drain on paper towels and repeat with remaining shrimp.
  • After cleaning the skillet, gently heat the honey until it boils. Stir in the orange zest, lemon juice, and cayenne pepper. Serve the hot shrimp on a platter and drizzle with the honey sauce to your liking.
