Tangy blackberry BBQ grilled chicken wings with a kick of jalapenos, zesty lime, and smoky flair.
Ingredients:
  • 6 ounces fresh blackberries
  • 0.25 cup ketchup
  • 0.25 cup water
  • 3 medium fresh jalapeno peppers, sliced
  • 3 tablespoons cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon liquid smoke flavoring
  • 2 medium limes, juiced
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 2 pounds chicken wings
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • salt and ground black pepper to taste
Instructions:
  • Heat up your outdoor grill to medium heat and give the grate a light coating of oil.
  • In a small saucepan, mix blackberries, ketchup, 1/4 cup water, jalapenos, vinegar, honey, garlic, and liquid smoke. Add lime juice, bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Combine cornstarch and 1 tablespoon of water in a cup, then blend the mixture into the sauce. Let it simmer until it thickens slightly and becomes syrupy, approximately 5 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
  • Coat wings in oil and season generously with salt and pepper, ensuring they are fully coated.
  • Grill wings until perfectly cooked, turning occasionally, for 20 to 25 minutes.
  • Strain the sauce through a fine mesh strainer into a container, tapping the strainer with a spoon to extract all the sauce from the residue.
  • Toss grilled wings in a large, clean bowl with hot blackberry BBQ sauce until fully coated. Serve while hot.
