Indulge in a rich and gooey dessert made for two.
Ingredients:
  • 1/4 cup Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking cocoa
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 tablespoons chopped nuts
  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking cocoa
  • 1/2 cup hot water
  • 2 scoops ice cream
  • Sliced bananas, if desired
  • Additional chopped nuts, if desired
  • Maraschino cherry, if desired
Instructions:
  • In a 24-ounce microwave-safe casserole dish, combine flour, granulated sugar, 2 teaspoons cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Mix in milk, oil, and vanilla until the batter is smooth. Stir in 2 tablespoons of nuts. Finally, sprinkle the top with brown sugar and 1 tablespoon of cocoa powder.
  • Heat 1 cup of water in a microwave-safe measuring cup for 1-1.5 minutes until boiling. Pour the hot water over the batter.
  • Place the uncovered casserole in the microwave and cook on High for 2 minutes 30 seconds to 3 minutes. Remember to rotate the casserole 1/4 turn after 1 minute. The cake should be set but still have a glossy finish. Serve warm with a scoop of ice cream on top. Garnish with sliced bananas, extra nuts, and cherries for an extra touch of flavor.
