Cook perfect stovetop white rice in under 30 minutes with ease.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup long-grain white rice
  • 1 3/4 cup water
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt, optional
Instructions:
  • Gently wash the rice in a wire mesh sieve under cold water for about 30 seconds, or until the water runs clear. Swirl to remove excess water.
  • In a 2-quart saucepan, mix rice, water, and salt (if using).
  • Cover and bring to a boil: Cover the pot and cook the rice over medium-high heat until boiling. Monitor for steam or lid rattling to prevent spillage.
  • After bringing the rice to a boil, set a timer for 10 minutes. Lower the heat to maintain a gentle simmer with barely visible wisps of steam around the lid. Occasionally check the rice's progress by lifting the lid, limiting it to a minimum.
  • Remove the pot from the burner and allow the rice to steam with the lid on for 10 minutes. This resting step is crucial for achieving fluffy restaurant-quality rice.
  • Fluff rice before serving using a fork or spoon. If you enjoyed the dish, kindly give us a star rating and leave a comment!
