Make mouthwatering stove-top burgers without a grill using a flavorful seasoning mix.
Ingredients:
  • For the burgers
  • For the burger seasoning mix (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon kosher salt
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper
  • For the easy burger sauce
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 pound ground chuck (90:10)
  • For serving
  • 3 potato or brioche buns
  • 6 slices American cheese
  • Nonstick spray
  • Green lettuce leaves
  • Thinly sliced red onion
  • Thinly sliced fresh tomato
Instructions:
  • Combine salt, pepper, and garlic powder in a small bowl to create the flavorful burger seasoning mix.
  • Prepare the sauce by combining mayonnaise, mustard, and ketchup in a small bowl until smooth. Set aside.
  • Prepare the burgers: Heat a large sturdy skillet, preferably cast iron, over medium heat. Divide the ground beef into three portions of 1/3 pound each, shaping them into 1/2-inch thick discs with a slight indentation in the center to avoid swelling. Season each side of the patties with 1/2 teaspoon of seasoning mix, if desired.
  • Prepare the skillet by spraying with non-stick spray. Cook the burgers over medium heat for 4 minutes, pressing down for 10 seconds to encourage browning. Avoid overhandling to achieve a nice crust. Flip using a metal spatula, scraping up any caramelization. Remember to enhance ventilation by using the stove fan and opening a window.
  • Flip the burgers and top with cheese, cook for 3 more minutes until the burger reaches desired doneness, typically medium. Toast buns in skillet if cooking one burger, or toast separately for multiple burgers. For extra melted cheese, cover with lid for the last minute of cooking.
  • Assemble the burgers by spreading burger sauce on each bun. Place the burger on the bottom bun and layer with lettuce, onions, tomatoes, and the top bun. Serve promptly with a refreshing beverage. Enjoy! If you enjoyed this dish, please leave a rating below!
