Easily create irresistible candied bacon in just 30 minutes in the oven. Enjoy it alone, on salads, or as a perfect Bloody Mary topping.
Ingredients:
  • 12 strips bacon (not thick-cut, about one pound)
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper (optional)
Instructions:
  • Prepare the bacon: Preheat the oven to 375°F, positioning one rack in the top third and the other in the bottom third. Line two baking sheets with foil and place an oven-safe wire rack on each. Lay the bacon strips across the wire racks, ensuring they are not overlapping. Sprinkle each bacon strip with brown sugar and freshly ground black pepper to add extra flavor. Use about 1 teaspoon of brown sugar per strip, evenly distributing it along the length of the bacon.
  • To make the candied bacon, bake in the oven at 375°F for 20-25 minutes. Rotate pan halfway through for even cooking. Check after 18 minutes as cooking time may vary. Bacon is done when brown sugar is melted and deep brown. It will crisp further as it cools, so enjoy!
  • Allow the bacon to cool on the wire rack for a few minutes until crispy and the melted sugar hardens. Avoid burning your mouth on the hot sugar by resisting the temptation to eat it immediately. Serve when ready.
  • Store the candied bacon in the fridge for a few days and reheat in a skillet over low heat. To freeze, store the strips individually to prevent sticking together. Enjoy! Leave some stars and a comment below if you loved the recipe!
