Try this easy recipe for delectable holiday biscuits.
Ingredients:
  • 2 cups self-rising flour
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar
  • 1.5 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted, or as needed
Instructions:
  • Position the oven rack in the center of the oven and preheat to 500 degrees F (260 degrees C. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil.
  • In a mixing bowl, blend self-rising flour and sugar together. Add cream and mix until dough is moist and slightly sticky.
  • Transfer the dough onto a generously floured work surface and lightly shape it into a 1/2-inch thick rectangle. Use a bench scraper to fold the dough into thirds, then gently press it back into a thick rectangle.
  • Roll out the dough into a 6x10-inch rectangle that is 1/2-inch thick. Use a 3-inch biscuit cutter to cut rounds from the dough. Combine any dough scraps, roll out to 1/2-inch thick, and cut 3 additional biscuits. If there is any dough left, flatten it lightly and cut one more biscuit.
  • Place biscuits neatly on baking sheet. generously brush melted butter on top of each biscuit.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until the biscuits are golden brown, around 10-12 minutes. Once out of the oven, brush the hot biscuits with melted butter again and let them cool slightly for 2-3 minutes before serving.
