Easy French press coffee with game-changing tips for a rich, full-bodied cup of joe.
Ingredients:
  • 45 grams coarse coffee grounds (5 tablespoons)
  • 3 1/2 cups water (680 mL)
Instructions:
  • Bring the water to a gentle boil, then let it cool for 30 seconds to reach 205°F (96°C).
  • Add the water, stir, and rest: Place coffee grounds in a French press carafe. Pour water into the French press, then stir to wet all grounds. Cover and rest for 1 minute, stir to break up any crust on the coffee surface.
  • Allow the mixture to infuse for a total of 4 minutes, then gently press the plunger down. Apply steady pressure without rushing. If you encounter resistance, ease up slightly before resuming the pressing until the plunger reaches the bottom and grounds are fully captured.
  • Serve immediately by pouring the coffee into cups. For later enjoyment, transfer any remaining coffee to a vacuum insulated mug to maintain freshness and prevent over-extraction from the grounds at the bottom of the French press.
