Flavorful Instant Pot chili with onions, beans, lean beef, tomatoes, and spices.
Ingredients:
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 cup chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1.5 cups water
  • 4 (15 ounce) cans kidney beans, drained
  • 1 (28 ounce) can crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
Instructions:
  • Heat up your multi-functional pressure cooker using the Saute function. Add the ground beef and cook until browned and crumbly, stirring occasionally for 5 to 7 minutes. Drain off the grease and transfer the cooked beef to a separate container.
  • In the Instant Pot®, heat oil using the Saute function. Add onion, garlic, and salt, cooking until softened, about 5 to 7 minutes. Create a well in the center, sprinkle in chili powder, cumin, and oregano. After 30 seconds, mix the spices into the onions. Put the cooked beef back in, pour in water, and stir well, making sure to scrape off any browned bits from the bottom.
  • Combine beans, crushed tomatoes, and tomato paste with the beef mixture. Seal the lid securely. Choose the Chili setting and program for 10 minutes. Let the pressure naturally release for 10 to 15 minutes.
  • Follow the manufacturer's natural-release instructions for 10 to 40 minutes, then unlock and remove the lid.
