Instant Pot® Honey Orange Chicken: Sweet, spicy, and flavorful with honey, orange, garlic, and masala chili sauce.
Ingredients:
  • 1 tablespoon hot chili sesame oil
  • 1 medium sweet onion, coarsely chopped
  • 1 cup chopped broccoli
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped garlic
  • 1 tablespoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 0.25 teaspoon grated orange zest
  • 0.75 cup orange juice
  • 0.5 cup reduced-sodium tamari
  • 0.25 cup spicy chili sauce (such as Maggi® Masala)
  • 0.25 cup honey
  • 1 pound chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 0.5 cup chicken broth, warmed
  • 2 tablespoons aji mirin sweet rice cooking wine (such as Kikkoman®)
Instructions:
  • Preheat a multi-functional pressure cooker (such as Instant Pot®) on the Saute function. Add sesame oil and onion, cook until translucent, about 2 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Add the vibrant combination of broccoli, garlic, red pepper flakes, garlic salt, ginger, and fresh orange zest. Saute until aromatic, approximately 1 minute. Pour in the tangy orange juice, savory tamari, spicy chili sauce, and sweet honey. Gently mix in the tender chicken. Cook on high pressure for 5 minutes following the manufacturer's directions, letting the pressure build for 10 to 15 minutes.
  • Release pressure naturally as per the manufacturer's guidance for 10 to 40 minutes. While waiting, combine cornstarch with chicken broth and whisk until smooth.
  • Use a large slotted spoon to remove the chicken and vegetables from the sauce. Return the pressure cooker to Saute mode and cook until the sauce bubbles; then, add the cornstarch mixture. Allow it to sit for 1 minute, stir well, and then turn off the pressure cooker.
  • Mix the aji mirin into the sauce, then return the chicken and vegetables to the pot.
