Prepare German-style comfort food in your Instant Pot by combining kielbasa, sauerkraut, apple, and potatoes for a delicious meal.
Ingredients:
  • 2 slices bacon
  • 2 pounds fresh kielbasa, sliced into 2-inch pieces
  • 1 medium sweet onion, diced
  • 0.25 cup dark brown sugar
  • 3 large yellow potatoes, chopped
  • 2 (16 ounce) packages sauerkraut, drained
  • 1.5 cups chicken broth
  • 1 apple - peeled, cored, and diced
  • 0.5 cup beer
  • 0.5 teaspoon sea salt
Instructions:
  • Preheat a multi-functional pressure cooker like an Instant Pot on the Sauté setting. Cook bacon until crispy for 8 to 10 minutes. Transfer bacon to a bowl. Cook kielbasa in the pot until lightly browned on all sides for 5 to 7 minutes. Transfer kielbasa to the bowl with the bacon.
  • Cook onions in the pot until they are soft and translucent, which takes about 2 to 3 minutes. Next, crumble the bacon and add it to the pot, followed by stirring in the brown sugar. Add the potatoes, sauerkraut, chicken broth, apple, beer, and salt to the pot, mixing everything together gently.
  • Secure and seal the lid, then choose high pressure as per the manufacturer's guidelines. Set the timer for 12 minutes and patiently wait for the pressure to build, giving it 10 to 15 minutes.
  • Allow the pressure to naturally release for 10 minutes following the manufacturer's instructions, then safely release any remaining pressure using the quick-release method. Unlock and remove the lid.
