Easy one-pan sausage and peppers sandwich filling with onions, garlic, and herbs - simple, delicious, and satisfying.
Ingredients:
  • 6 (4 ounce) links sweet Italian sausage
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 medium yellow onion, sliced
  • 0.5 medium red onion, sliced
  • 1 large red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 medium green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 0.25 cup white wine, or more to taste
Instructions:
  • Brown the sausage in a large skillet over medium heat until golden on all sides, about 5-7 minutes. Slice the sausage after removing from the skillet.
  • In the same skillet, melt butter until sizzling. Add onions and garlic, sauté for 2 to 3 minutes. Incorporate bell peppers, sprinkle with basil and oregano, pour in 1/4 cup wine. Cook and stir until peppers and onions are tender, about 5 to 7 minutes.
  • Add the sausage slices back to the skillet and simmer covered on low heat for 15 minutes, or until the sausage is heated through, adding extra wine if necessary.
  • Garnish with fresh herbs and savor while warm!
