Creamy Alfredo pasta with spicy Italian sausage, mushrooms, and Parmesan cheese. Serve with extra cheese on top.
Ingredients:
  • 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
  • 5 (3.5 ounce) links hot Italian sausage, cut into bite-size pieces
  • 1 white onion, chopped
  • 1 (4.5 ounce) can sliced mushrooms, drained
  • 3 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons dried oregano
  • salt and ground black pepper to taste
  • 0.25 cup white wine
  • 0.5 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 3 tablespoons freshly shredded Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter
Instructions:
  • In a skillet over medium heat, heat olive oil and brown the sausage for about 10 minutes. Add onion, mushrooms, garlic, and oregano to the skillet, season with salt and black pepper, and cook until onions are slightly browned, around 15 minutes.
  • In a skillet, bring wine to a boil then reduce heat. Simmer until liquid reduces by half, approximately 10 minutes. Add cream, Parmesan cheese, and butter. Simmer and stir occasionally until sauce thickens slightly, 10 to 15 minutes. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
