Create a festive Jack-o’-Lantern Cake that will impress all your guests!
Ingredients:
  • 2 boxes Betty Crocker™ Super Moist™ Devil's Food Cake Mix (or your favorite flavor)
  • Water, vegetable oil and eggs or egg whites called for on cake mix box
  • 2 tubs (16 oz) Betty Crocker™ Rich & Creamy Vanilla Frosting
  • Yellow and red food color
  • 1 green flat-bottom ice-cream cone
  • Betty Crocker™ Fruit Roll-Ups® chewy fruit snack rolls (any flavor)
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 325°F. Grease and flour a 2-quart round casserole or a 2 1/2-quart ovenproof bowl. Prepare cake batter according to package instructions and pour into the casserole.
  • Bake for 1 hour and 5 minutes to 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let the cake cool for 15 minutes, then remove it from the casserole and place it rounded side up on a cooling rack. Allow it to cool completely for about 1 hour. Repeat the process with the remaining cake mix in the same casserole or bowl.
  • Using a sharp knife, delicately slice off a piece from the top of each cake to create a flat surface for assembling the cakes into a pumpkin shape. (Save cake scraps for another recipe like pudding or trifle, if desired.)
  • In a medium bowl, mix frosting with 9 drops of yellow and 6 drops of red food color to create orange frosting. Place one cake on a plate, rounded side down, and spread 2/3 cup of the orange frosting almost to the edge. Top with the second cake, rounded side up, to form a round shape. Spread a thin layer of frosting over the entire cake to seal in crumbs. For easier handling, refrigerate or freeze the cake for 30 to 60 minutes. Frost the entire cake with the remaining orange frosting.
  • Trim the ice-cream cone to your preferred height to create the stem, then invert it on top of the cake. Utilize fruit snack rolls to cut out eyes, nose, mouth, vines, and leaves. Arrange them on the frosted cake to craft the face. Store the cake securely covered.
