Zesty beef and mushroom casserole layered with noodles and sharp cheddar cheese, simmered in a savory tomato sauce.
Ingredients:
  • 1 (8 ounce) package wide egg noodles
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 (4.5 ounce) can sliced mushrooms
  • 1 pinch garlic salt
  • ground black pepper to taste
  • 1.5 tablespoons white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 (15 ounce) cans tomato sauce
  • 8 ounces sharp Cheddar cheese, shredded
Instructions:
  • Boil pasta in a large pot of salted water until perfectly cooked. Drain well.
  • Cook ground beef, onion, and mushrooms in a large skillet until browned. Drain excess grease. Stir in garlic salt, ground black pepper, sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and tomato sauce. Let it simmer for 30 minutes.
  • In a well-greased 2 quart casserole dish, create layers starting with half of the cooked egg noodles, followed by half of the sauce mixture, and then half of the grated cheese. Repeat the layers.
  • Place in a hot 375°F (190°C) oven and bake for 20-30 minutes.
