Make homemade kettle corn in minutes with just 4 ingredients - it's the perfect sweet and salty snack that's dangerously addictive.
Ingredients:
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup popcorn kernels
Instructions:
  • Combine salt and sugar in a small bowl and mix well. Set aside.
  • In a large stockpot over medium-high heat, add vegetable oil and 3 to 4 popcorn kernels. Cover with a tight-fitting lid and wait for the kernels to pop.
  • Toss in the popcorn with the sugar and salt mixture as soon as the test kernels start popping. Stir briskly with a wooden spoon to ensure everything is evenly coated. Avoid skipping this step to prevent the sugar from burning.
  • Cover the pot and shake constantly while cooking. Expect the popcorn to start popping within a minute. Remove from heat as soon as caramel aroma is detected or when there is a 1-second gap between pops.
  • Transfer the kettle corn into a bowl and allow it to cool for a short while. If there are any sugary remains in the pot, pour in a couple of cups of water. Bring it to a boil, cover, and let it simmer for 5 minutes to dissolve the sugar. Dispose of the hot water down the sink, and your pot will be greatly improved.
  • Remove unpopped kernels and savor: Sort through the kettle corn and remove any remaining unpopped kernels, making sure to check clusters for stragglers. Enjoy warm or at room temperature for the best crunch and flavor. Store in a tightly covered container for three to four days.
