Deliciously crunchy chocolate slice with Kingston biscuits and oats.
Ingredients:
  • 200g packet Kingston biscuits
  • 200.00 gm traditional rolled oats
  • 85.00 gm desiccated coconut
  • 82.50 ml plain flour
  • 135.00 gm brown sugar
  • 150g butter, chopped
  • 83.75 gm golden syrup
  • 1.25 gm bicarbonate of soda
  • 337.50 gm icing sugar mixture
  • 32.50 gm cocoa powder
  • 62.50 gm boiling water
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to 180C/160C fan-forced. Grease a 16cm x 26cm slice pan and line it with baking paper, making sure to extend the paper 2cm above the edges of the pan.
  • Finely chop 5 biscuits, then halve the remaining biscuits and reserve.
  • Combine oats and coconut in a food processor until oats are finely chopped. Transfer the mixture to a bowl and add flour and sugar. Stir well to blend all ingredients together.
  • In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt butter with golden syrup. Increase heat and bring to a simmer. Remove from heat, stir in bicarbonate of soda, and let it sit for 5 minutes.
  • Create a deep well in the oat mixture and pour in the butter mixture. Thoroughly combine the ingredients. Press the mixture evenly into the pan. Bake for 20 minutes or until the top is a golden hue and the center is firm yet slightly soft.
  • Prepare the irresistible icing by mixing icing sugar and cocoa in a bowl. Pour in boiling water and stir until silky smooth. Drizzle it over the warm slice, ensuring an even spread. Sprinkle with chopped biscuits and place biscuit halves on top. Allow it to cool fully before slicing into bars and serving.
