Marinate beef in rice wine, garlic, chili paste, then grill for delicious Korean finger food - perfect for entertaining with a fabulous sauce!
Ingredients:
  • 1.5 pounds beef sirloin
  • 0.5 cup soy sauce
  • 0.5 cup rice wine
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 2 tablespoons minced garlic
  • 1.5 teaspoons toasted sesame oil
  • 0.25 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon hot chile paste
  • 8 green onions, chopped into 1 inch pieces
  • 1 cup Bibb lettuce
Instructions:
  • Cut beef into long strips, about 1 1/2 inches wide, and place in a bowl. Mix soy sauce, rice wine, sugar, garlic, sesame oil, pepper, and chile paste in a small bowl. Pour one third of the mixture over the beef and toss to coat. Marinate at room temperature for at least one hour or longer in the refrigerator. Simmer the rest of the sauce with green onions in a saucepan for one minute and transfer to a serving dish to cool.
  • Clean and pat dry the lettuce, removing any large stems. Use a cleaver or large knife to gently flatten the leaves, then beautifully arrange them on a serving dish.
  • Preheat grill to medium-high heat and lightly oil the grate.
  • Position the grate three inches above the coals. Grill the meat to your preferred level of doneness, approximately three minutes on each side for medium rare. Cut the meat into thin strips, slicing against the grain.
  • Serve by putting a portion of beef and sauce onto a lettuce leaf, folding it into a bundle, and enjoying with your fingers.
