Korean beef and seaweed soup - a traditional postpartum dish famous for boosting milk supply.
Ingredients:
  • 1 (1 ounce) package dried brown seaweed
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 0.25 pound beef top sirloin, minced
  • 1.5 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • 6 cups water
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
Instructions:
  • Place seaweed in a bowl and cover with water, soak for 5 to 10 minutes until soft. Drain and cut into 2-inch pieces.
  • In a saucepan over medium heat, heat sesame oil. Add beef, 1/2 tablespoon soy sauce, and salt; cook and stir for 1 minute. Then add drained seaweed and remaining 1 tablespoon soy sauce. Cook, stirring frequently, for an additional minute.
  • 1. Start by pouring 2 cups of water into a pot and bringing it to a boil. Add the garlic and the remaining 4 cups of water. Bring it to a boil, then cover and reduce the heat to simmer for 20 minutes. Finally, season with salt before serving.
