Special iron-cooked cookies with a unique name, boasting irresistible sweetness.
Ingredients:
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup Gold Medal™ all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened
  • 1/3 cup whipping (heavy) cream
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • 4 eggs
Instructions:
  • Preheat the ungreased krumkake iron on the smallest surface unit of your electric or gas range over medium-high heat. Follow the manufacturer's directions for electric irons. Mix all ingredients until smooth. To check if the iron is at the right temperature, test it with a few drops of water; they should skitter around when the iron is ready.
  • Prepare the iron by brushing the top and bottom lightly with shortening or vegetable oil. Spoon 1/2 tablespoon of batter onto the iron, close it gently, and cook for about 15 seconds on each side until light golden brown. Make sure to keep the iron over the heat continuously. Use a knife to remove the cookie, then quickly roll it around a roller or a handle of a large wooden spoon. Allow the cookie to cool on a wire rack.
