Ingredients:
  • 4 eggs, separated
  • 0.33333334326744 cup lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1.5 cups white sugar
  • 0.5 cup sifted all-purpose flour
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 1.5 cups milk
Instructions:
  • Preheat the oven to a toasty 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and lightly grease an 8-inch square baking dish.
  • Combine egg yolks, lemon juice, butter, and lemon zest in a large bowl. Use an electric mixer to beat until mixture is thick and has a beautiful lemon color.
  • Mix together the sugar, flour, and salt. Gradually add this mixture alternately with milk to the lemon mixture, making sure to beat well after each addition.
  • Whisk egg whites in a glass, metal, or ceramic bowl until stiff peaks form.
  • Blend the egg whites delicately into the batter using a gentle low speed on an electric mixer, then transfer the mixture into the prepared baking dish.
  • Preheat the oven and place a pan of hot water inside. Set the baking dish into the pan and bake for 45 minutes. Serve warm for the best experience.
