Little cherry and chestnut chocolate brownies

Decadent brownies bursting with chewy cherries and rich chestnuts. A true indulgence!
Ingredients:
  • 175 g unsalted butter
  • 200 g good-quality dark chocolate (70% cocoa solids) broken up
  • 75 g dried cherries
  • 75 g roasted chestnuts chopped
  • 75 g cocoa powder sifted
  • 100 g plain flour sifted
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 300 g golden caster sugar
  • 4 large free-range eggs
  • icing sugar for dusting
  • 500 ml crème fraîche to serve
  • 1 orange zest of, to serve
Instructions:
  • Preheat oven to 180°C/350°F/gas 4. Line a 20cm x 30cm baking tin with greaseproof paper. Melt butter and chocolate together in a bowl over simmering water until smooth. Add cherries and chestnuts, then set aside. In a separate bowl, combine cocoa powder, flour, baking powder, and sugar. Mix dry ingredients into the chocolate mixture. Beat eggs and fold into the mix. Pour batter into the tin and bake for 15-20 minutes until slightly springy. Let cool for 30 minutes, then cut into 3cm squares. Dust with icing sugar, serve with crème fraîche and grated orange zest.
