  • 10 apples - peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1.5 cups white sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 10 individually wrapped caramels, unwrapped
  • 3 tablespoons butter, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1 tablespoon confectioners' sugar, or more as needed
Instructions:
  • Preheat your oven to a toasty 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Line the base of a 9x13-inch baking dish with pastry for 1 1/2 pie shells, trimming and patching where needed.
  • In a large bowl, gently toss together apples, sugar, flour, and cinnamon until apple slices are evenly coated. Spread apple mixture over the pie crust, then top with caramels and butter slices for a decadent finish.
  • Cut the remaining pie pastry into 1- to 2-inch pieces and place them on top of the caramels and butter.
  • Bake in a hot oven until lightly golden, for approximately 1 hour.
  • Allow the bars to cool in the baking dish on a wire rack for 30 minutes before slicing and serving.
  • Whisk together milk and confectioner's sugar in a small bowl, then drizzle over bars.
